Snacks and Allergies
We provide a healthy snack each day. It will consist of a fruit or a vegetable along with a carbohydrate or protein. We will also offer water as a beverage. We gently encourage children to try new foods, but if a child doesn’t like the provided snack we will offer an alternative choice. We offer a family style snack. Children will learn to pour their own water, use scoops, tongs and utensils for serving themselves. A snack menu will be sent home each month. It will also be posted in the school as a reminder for parents.
In the event that a child has a severe food allergy (peanuts, milk etc.) we will notify all parents of the allergy. We ask that all families respect the health and safety of all of our children and refrain from sending in that food or products that contain that food to school.
If your child has a severe allergy you will be asked to fill out a medical form and meet with the teachers to create a treatment and action plan. We will ask for written permission from the child’s parents to hang up information about the allergy.
