Schedule
A predictable daily schedule is important for children to feel safe and allows them to anticipate upcoming events. We will do our best to follow our daily schedule; however, there will be times we'll require flexibility to best serve the children's needs.
8:30 - Children arrive - Hang up coats and backpacks.
8:30 - Free Exploration - This offers children time to explore our classrooms. We will provide centers such as: dress up, housekeeping, construction zone, sensory, writing, and art studio. This allows children time to socialize and problem solve.
9:00 - Clean up and put away classroom toys and materials.
9:05 - Circle Time - During this time we will talk about the calendar (days of the week, months, date and year). We will graph the weather and discuss the graph using math terms such as: most, least and equal. We will count and identify numbers, sing songs, enjoy movement activities, introduce letters, and sight words. We will read a letter from our classroom mascot and identify letters and sight words.
9:30 - Bathroom & hand washing.
9:35 - Snack Time - We provide a family-style snack. The children will be given opportunities to set the table, pour, use plastic knives safely, use tongs to serve themselves, take turns and practice manners.
10:00 - Thematic Project - These projects will focus on following directions, fine motor skills, creativity, literacy, math concepts, and kindergarten readiness skills.
10:35 - Getting Dressed for Recess -This allows the children time to practice putting on their coats, snow pants, boots, as well as zipping and buttoning.
10:40 - Recess
11:15 - Story Time - We will use this time to discuss things like the author, illustrator, characters, predicting what will happen, story retelling, and what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
